It was announced in August 2019, that the Lunar brand would be manufactured under the new name of Lunar Automotive, a part of a South African Engineering Group. Unfortunately, it has now become apparent that Lunar Automotive will not be able to produce Lunar caravans, and this heralds the end of the Lunar brand.
Because the market for used caravans remains strong, and as such, the current value of your Lunar caravan is relatively high and should remain so whilst the caravan market is buoyant. We have seen with previous lost brands, such as Fleetwood and Avondale, that values hold for a couple of years, but then drop as time passes, due mainly to the availability of parts.
What does this mean for me?
If you own a Lunar caravan, any balance of the manufacturer’s warranty that remained on your Lunar caravan is now no longer valid, as the manufacturer has ceased trading and we understand that for many owners, this may be a cause for concern. Having been a Lunar dealer of long-standing, we at Grantham Caravans wish to help our customers, wherever possible whilst also dealing with our own financial losses arising from the collapse of Lunar.
