Caravan Damp Repairs

Damp Problems? We’ve Got You Covered!

No More Leaks, Just Peace of Mind.

If you’re a caravan owner, you understand the importance of keeping your caravan in top shape. Damp issues are one of the most common and destructive problems that can affect the structural integrity, comfort, and safety of your caravan. Especially if your caravan is still manufactured by using the traditional construction methods. Over time, excess moisture can lead to rotting, mould, and even electrical damage. We specialise in caravan damp repairs, ensuring your caravan stays dry, safe, and comfortable for all your journeys.

Damp can occur and infiltrate your caravan due to many reasons such as…

Leaky seals: Seals around windows, doors, awning rails or roof vents can degrade over time, can degrade over time, allowing rainwater to seep in.
• Roof Damage: Broken, cracked, or poorly maintained roofs can lead to leaks that cause water ingress.
External Cracks or Openings: broken and cracked panels can cause water ingress into the caravan, but it can also be something that is quite hard to detect such as lights or fitted extras like a bike rack.
• Condensation: When warm air inside the caravan meets cold surfaces, moisture can form, leading to damp walls and mould growth.
• Poor Ventilation: Inadequate airflow can trap moisture inside the caravan, creating the perfect environment for dampness.

If left untreated, damp can cause serious and costly damage to your caravan, making it essential to address any moisture problems as soon as they arise. Damp can compromise the structure, comfort, and safety of your caravan in various ways, including water leaks that weaken materials, mould and mildew growth, rotting timber and insulation, and even rust and electrical faults due to prolonged moisture exposure. Taking action early can prevent these issues from escalating and protect your caravan for years to come.

At Granthams, we understand that your caravan is more than just a vehicle – it’s your home on the road. How To Prevent Damp In A Caravan?

Preventing damp in your caravan starts with proactive maintenance and proper care. First and foremost, ensure that all seals around windows, doors, and roof vents are intact and regularly checked for wear. A simple reseal can go a long way in preventing water ingress.

Additionally, keep the caravan well-ventilated to reduce condensation; using roof vents or a dehumidifier can help maintain airflow, especially during colder months when condensation is more likely. Regularly inspect the roof for any damage, cracks, or loose joints that might allow water to seep in, and repair any issues promptly. It’s also essential to dry out the caravan thoroughly after use, particularly in rainy or humid conditions, and avoid storing damp items inside.

Also, consider using moisture-absorbing products, like silica gel or damp traps, to help manage excess moisture. By staying on top of these simple tasks, you can significantly reduce the risk of damp and keep your caravan in great condition for years to come.

Finally, maintain an annual service every year so you have peace of mind that a qualified technician has checked your caravan for any potential risks of water ingress.
